Golden Milk Recipe

Golden Milk Recipe HealthWays for You

Yummy Warm and Healing Golden Milk Recipe

Makes 2 servings
What is Golden Milk and Why drink it?
I was turned onto Golden Milk many moons ago by a yoga teacher in Yardley, Pa. Never one to turn down a natural recipe for good health and healing… I gave it a try, and have been drinking it ever since. While it’s warming properties suggest a Northeast cold winter’s night, I can truly say I enjoy it just as much year round, here in southern California.

Golden Milk is an *Ayurvedic drink recipe that offers tons of healing properties. Whether you are trying to reduce inflammation, get some relief from a cold or flu, or want your skin to glow, this soothing drink is guaranteed to offer you much needed comfort. I like to drink it after dinner…as it invites a relaxing evening, reducing anxiety and promoting a restful sleep.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut or almond milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric spice or 2 inches of whole fresh turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (more to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  • Place milk, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, coconut oil and black pepper in a small saucepan
  • Cook, stirring frequently, until warm but do not boil. Whisk ingredients to blend evenly
  • Add sweetener to taste
If using fresh turmeric, strain into your cups, if not divide into 2 cups and sip away.
Turmeric is best absorbed when a fat and black pepper are present in the recipe.

I hope you enjoy this drink as much as I do.
Peace and Love~
Mary

  • 1/2 C almond butter
  • 1 TB vanilla
  • 1/4 C honey or maple syrup
  • 1 TB freshly grated ginger

  • 1/2 C dried currants, cranberries or raisins (no sugar added)

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 º
  • Combine dry ingredients (minus the walnuts and dried fruit) in a large bowl.
  • Using an electric mixer, mix until well combined, then add the walnuts and dried fruit and mix gently until just combined.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spoon out 2-3 TB per cookie.
Smoosh the cookies so they are flat - these won’t rise like other cookies do.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, let cool and then enjoy.
You can store in fridge for about a week for a great breakfast on the run or snack.
  • Makes  about 20 cookies

Note: These cookies are yummy and always a hit. If you make a batch you’ll have breakfast for days.
